How can I assign assessments to my pupils?

School networks, schools and teachers have the ability to assign targeted assessments to their pupils using Freckle. Whether you want to measure growth over time, isolate pupil strengths and weaknesses or determine what objectives still need to be taught before county testing, these assessments provide all key stakeholders with the data they need to make the most informed decisions possible. Completely based on the Common Core, Freckle Assessments are designed to give the most precise information on pupil ability.

Here is how to use the Assessments feature:

1. Select Tasks in the left navigation bar of the Teacher Home.
2. Select + Add a Task.
   
   
   
   
3. Select the type of task you want to assign.
   
   
   
   
4. Select the class and pupils for whom you want to create the assignment.
   
   
   
   
5. Select the year/course and domain for the assessment you want to create; or, select   Search all standards instead to get a list of all standards to choose from:
   
   
   
   
6. Select the number of questions you want; select Show task preview to see a preview of the questions. For each question, you can select Change to change the question to a new one.
   
   
   
   If you have pupils whose language is set to Spanish, there will be a View in Spanish button in the upper-right corner. Use this button to change the language of the assignment or assessment preview.
   
   
   
   
7. Once you are satisfied with the assessment, select either Assign immediately to send the assessment to your pupils or Assign for the future to schedule a date for the pupils to receive the task. You will see the assessment listed in your tasks. Note that pupils must log on at student.freckle.com or on the Freckle app to complete the assessment.
8. Have pupils log in to Freckle with their class code. 
   
9. Have pupils select Tasks at the bottom of their screen.
10. Pupils will see their tasks waiting for them. Multiple assignments may be listed. Assessments will be labeled as such. Have pupils select the task to begin.
11. Pupils complete the assessment, which will take anywhere from 10 to 30 to 60 minutes or more.
    
    Note that assessments covering an entire year will be the longest, followed by single domain assessments. Single standard assessments will be the shortest. Pupils can track their progress with the green bar at the top of the screen. This is also a quick way for teachers to check progress as they circulate the room.
    
    Once students have completed the assessment, they will return to their dashboard to choose other assignments on which to work.
    
    

    Pupils can pick up exactly where they left off during assessments, so these do not need to be completed in one sitting.

Here is how to check class progress and performance on the assessment:

1. To check completion progress on the assessment you just assigned to your pupils, select on the arrow icon next to the assessment.
   
   
   
   You will see a list of pupils who have not yet completed the assessment, as well as a list of pupils who have already completed the assessment. This makes it easy to track the completion.
   
   Once a task is completely finished, meaning all pupils have completed it, it will be moved from the list of tasks and will be filed under the Completed Tasks section at the top of the page. You will see each completed task as well as a link to the sessions tab to see how pupils performed.
2. Select See Results or visit the Reports page (on the left navigation bar) and select Assessment Report to see pupil performance on the assessment.
   
   When you view the completion progress for each task, you can select See Results for a direct link to the assessment data (stored in the Sessions report). Alternatively, you can log in to your Teacher Home, select Reports in the left navigation bar and then select Assessments. You will find a list of the assessments you have assigned. They are organised by date, and you can see what you assigned, as well as completion progress.
